Beat a bad hair day with great colour...

Our hair plays such a large part in our personality, style and sense of well being - we all know the power of a great hair day and how upsetting a really bad hair day can be! Getting the right hair colour is an important step on the way to hair that makes you look and, most importantly feel good. Great colour can brighten up a dull winter, get you ready for summer and of course banish those unwanted grey hairs…

With more than 28 years working in the business - both here at Trevor Sorbie and previously with colour giants L’Oreal – I’m lucky enough to have gained a wealth of knowledge that I really enjoy sharing with my clients to give them great hair
colour that works to both boost their confidence and create a look they will love.

One of my favourite parts of the process is the colour consultation; sitting with a client and really listening to them and working together to find the tones and colours that will give them the very best results. We do this by analysing their skin tone and eye colour, the colours they like to wear regularly and of course, what colour techniques would work with their lifestyle.  It is important to consider if a client has the time to maintain their chosen colour with regular appointments or whether they need a lower maintenance colour that gives them a strong look but without having to commit to visiting the salon as often.  For example, an all-over tint will need root-retouching every four weeks, while fine highlights can wait ten weeks before they need doing again.

All good colour technicians will provide this service in an initial complimentary consultation and I strongly advise that you take advantage of their expertise to get the very best colour for you.

ANNA CHAPMAN WINS CREATIVE HEAD IT LIST FASHIONISTA AWARD

The team at the salon are are extremely proud of Anna Chapman, our Art Director who has been awarded with the Fashionista award at the 2013 Creative HEAD It List awards.  I went along to the awards ceremony at The Natural History Museum with Anna last week and had a really amazing evening partying among the dinosaurs!|

The It List is a series of six awards for up-and-coming hairdressers aged 30 and under judged by a panel of industry experts including the fab Sam McKnight and Johnnie Sapong, We were all over the moon when Anna’s names was called out for the Fashionista award – she lives and breathes fashion and in the past year has worked with designers including Preen, Rag and Bone and Topshop Unique Chloe, Kenzo, Dior, and Hussein Chalayan.

Anna told me: “Winning Fashionista is such a huge honour, I have been working really hard to build my fashion portfolio, so for my work to be judged and then recognised by some of the biggest session stylists in the industry is just incredible, it’s an award that truly means so much to me.’

No stranger to winning awards; in 2007 she won Newcomer of the Year at the British Hairdressing Awards and in 2008, we both won the L’Oréal Colour Trophy Men's Image Award, winning a trip to New York and a shoot with Vogue magazine.

The fringe genius

We’ve always known that lovely Louise Brown, one of the most experienced (and busy!) stylists in the Brighton salon was a brilliantly talented hairdresser and so it was extremely gratifying to see that one of the UK’s top beauty journalists, Sali Hughes of The Guardian agree! Attached here is the link to the brilliant piece that ran online praising Louise’s fringe cutting skills and naming her as a ‘fringe genius’ http://www.theguardian.com/fashion/2013/aug/03/sali-hughes-fringes

One of the first stylists to join the Trevor Sorbie Brighton team, Louise is now a Director at the salon and will celebrate her tenth year with us as we reach our own tenth anniversary in April next year. To book an appointment with Louise, please call the salon on 01273 220007.

Great hair colour starts here...

Whether covering grey, adding subtle highlights to enhance your natural hair colour or changing your look completely, colouring your hair is a brilliant way to make a statem

ent and update your look. Done well a new hair colour can make you look and feel great; enhance your eye colour, make you skin glow, take years off you and give you a real confidence boost!

The key to getting really amazing hair colour is to enlist the help of an expert who can take the time to understand the look you want to achieve and work with you to get the very best results for you.  All good salons offer free colour consultations with their team of technicians who will be more than happy to share their expert advice with you.

Jade

As Technical Director, I head up the salon’s award winning technical team; colour specialists who also offer perming and straightening treatments. Ollie, Jade, Sam and Kelly are a highly experienced team who between them hold the prestigious L’Oreal Professionnel Colour Specialist degree and have won the L’Oréal Colour Trophy Young Colourist of the Year and the L’Oréal Colour Trophy Men's Image Award.

More important than awards and accolades though, is the years of experience that the whole team have in working with clients to achieve just the right look for their lifestyle, skin tone and eye colour. So why not drop into the salon, have a chat with me or any member of the technical team and see for yourself just how great you can look and feel with a glossy new colour.
